I do wonder how it would be if all aspects of different Greek Islands could be combined into one: The stunning scenery of Santorini, open-air museum of Rhodes, beautiful town of Corfu with the stunning beaches of Lefkada, colourful houses of Symi…nevertheless it is wonderful to discover the variety one by one as well.
Lefkada lacks all the amazing aspects of other Greek islands except for one: the most amazing stunning beaches.
The town centre is nice enough but nothing special. So are other village centres such as Nidri and Vassiliki.
People are friendly and smiley but unfortunately smoke a lot. The island overall seems underdeveloped but that’s not necessarily a downside if you are looking for an idyllic escape. The nature is not necessarily spectacular. However, if you happen to step foot on the island, you mustn’t miss Porto Katsiki and Kathisma Beaches.
The colour of water at Porto Katsiki and Kathisma is as if a higher power used a unique palette only for this corner of the Mediterranean. Chalky white is mixed with Caribbean blue against green and yellow rocky hills. The view is simply breath-taking as well as bathing in the wavy waters.
